Lost Wax Brass Metal Art

This art belongs to the Malar tribal group who is famous for crafting hollow figures of animal figures and images of deities from clay. The facial features are then made on the mould after applying wax obtained from Sal tree. Later, a cup is filled with the required quantity of metal (brass) and the mould is dipped in it. Lastly, the cup with the mould is kept in a furnace where the molten metal flows into the empty spaces of wax. It melts down and replaces the wax. That is the reason why this art style is known as ‘Lost Wax Brass Art’.
